Parent/Child Activities

Here are some suggestions for fun activities for parents and their children.

Toddlers

Play with water. Run through a sprinkler. Blow bubbles. Play in the kitchen sink or a wading pool – toddlers love to fill and empty cups. Paint with water on a sidewalk or deck.

Visit a construction site – From a safe distance, watch the workers and heavy equipment. Take out a library book about trucks and construction machines.

Three-, four- and five-year-olds

Take a nature walk. Watch a busy anthill in operation. Collect leaves, acorns and pinecones.

Make costumes and put on a show. Base it on your child’s favorite book or song.

Young school-age children

Take up a hobby. Explore and learn about activities like photography or sewing.

Write. Write a poem or a story. Start a journal. Publish a family newspaper to send to friends and relatives.
