Summary: Support, enhance and encourage the emotional development of life skills in order to maximize individual functioning.
Responsibilities/Functions/Competencies:
- Effectively provides individual counseling related to substance abuse;
- Effectively provides group counseling, utilizing our best practice curriculum;
- Demonstrates knowledge of ASAM PPCII;
- Proficient in NJ SAMS and CASI (adolescent only);
- Presents cases in a coherent manner that demonstrates appropriate clinical judgment and clinical technique;
- Completes intakes to include level of care (knowledge of LOCI), diagnosis and preliminary treatment plan with recommendations for ongoing treatment;
- Completes progress/group notes accurately, addressing treatment goals, major clinical issues and changes in mental health status;
- Completes termination forms and other discharge planning activities with consumer involvement when possible and a referral source as indicated;
- Upon assignment of cases, contact consumers accordingly;
- Takes responsibility for the completeness of the entire clinical record for all assigned cases;
- Completes timely and effective advocacy, consultation, service coordination, evaluation, documentation, written reports and phone contact to community resources and related professionals as required by PBH standards and consumer needs;
- Ensures that staff, clinical specialist and Systems of Care Coordinator receive, understand and implement essential information;
- Demonstrates familiarity about referring consumers for psychiatric evaluation;
- Knowledge of urine testing including knowledge of logs;
- Provides transportation for consumers if the Counselor Aide is not available;
- Employee must submit to a criminal history check, supported by fingerprinting prior to employment;
- Employee must submit to drug and alcohol screening upon hire and if suspicion arises;
- Employee must obtain a physical exam prior to employment;
- Employee must submit to annual Mantoux/TB testing.
LCADC or CADC plus 1 year of experience. Bilingual English/Spanish skills required.
