Visitation Counselor

The Family Visitation Program provides an array of services to help build stronglasting familial bonds. We are seeking a Visitation Counselor to work with mandated families in maintaining parent/child relationships while they have an open case with the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P). Services are in-person at the program location. Proper PPE and environmental safeguards are in place to maintain safety standards for staff, youth, and families. Responsibilities include supervising family interaction, maintaining safety of children in accordance with PBHG and DCP&P guidelines and court orders, accurate and timely documentation in electronic records,and transportation with company vehicles.

This is a full time and per diem position requiring a Bachelor’s Degree, day and evening hours, and a NJ driver’s license in good standing.

Responsibilities:

•    Be aware of transportation safety laws and proper installation of children’s car seats;

•    Provide transportation, as assigned, so that child(ren) and/or visitor(s) may be picked up and dropped off on schedule;

•    Document any significant information the child(ren) or visitor(s) may reveal during transportation;

•    Confirm visits and/or pickups according to program policies and case specific details;

•    Handle any problems or concerns of the resource parent(s) or visitor(s) and bring them to the attention of the Program Director and if necessary DCP&P caseworker;

•    Provide ongoing case updates to DCP&P caseworkers;

•    Supervise family visitation and maintain safety and well-being of children

•    Ensure court ordered requirements are maintained; 

•    Intervene when it is in the interest of the child(ren) to do so or when instructed by case specific information;

•    Maintain an active caseload of 4-6 families as assigned;

•    When not in visits, ensure coverage of the front desk and telephones;

•    When not in visits, sanitize program surfaces and toys;

•    Perform closing check list requirements;

•    Assist interns and volunteers as needed

•    Assist in training process of new employees

•    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Word
