Student well-being is at the heart of our mission. Our Mental Health and Suicide Prevention services provide a comprehensive framework for emotional growth, helping schools move from reactive crisis management to proactive wellness.

Tier 1: Universal Prevention Pre-K – Grade 12

Universal support delivered through school-wide assemblies, classroom workshops, and webinars.

Elementary (K-5):

  • Gizmo for Mental Health: A safe space for discussing complex emotions.
  • Happy & Healthy Habits: Emotional intelligence and mindfulness.

Middle & High School (6-12):

  • It’s Real: Teens and Mental Health: Suicide prevention and help-seeking awareness.
  • Stress Reduction & Mindfulness: Techniques to distinguish perception from reality.

Adults in Education:

  • Talk Saves Lives & More Than Sad: Suicide prevention education (AFSP).
  • Mental Wellness in the Classroom: Strategies for staff to identify anxiety and depression.

Tier 2: Targeted Prevention Middle & High School

Targeted evidence-based small group interventions for students identified as “at-risk.”

Sample Service Offerings:

Rainbows for All Children:

  • Peer support for grief, divorce, or abandonment.

WhyTry:

  • Resilience education using visual metaphors to improve motivation.

The POWER Program:

  • Positive Outcomes With Emotional Regulation use CBT skills to teach students how to develop effective coping strategies to manage feelings of anxiety, depression, and anger.

Botvin Life Skills Training (LST):

Uses a variety of teaching methods to prevent substance use and develop social and self-management skills. Supports the reduction of violence and other high-risk behaviors.

Tier 3: Assessment & Brief Clinical Intervention

Individualized clinical support for students showing signs of depression, anxiety, or significant distress.

Service Focus:

Clinical Assessment:

  • Rapid evaluation of mental health needs to determine the level of care required.

Brief Intervention:

  • Short-term stabilization sessions to provide coping strategies for immediate stressors.

Care Coordination:

  • Facilitating warm hand-offs to community providers for ongoing psychotherapy.

Preferred Behavioral Health Group provides multiple youth and adult services to address emotional, mental, and behavioral health issues. However, some situations require different services. If your child is experiencing life-threatening danger or the immediate risk of harming themselves, you must take them to the nearest emergency room or dial 911 for immediate assistance.
